Dell Computer has partnered with Italian computer manufacturer Questar in the development and distribution of the Linux Desktop system. The joint operation marks the first time that Dell Computer has linked itself with a European computer manufacturer on a project of this magnitude.
In recent years, Dell Computer, under the leadership of CEO and founder Michael Dell, has made a determined effort to encroach into markets that the company previously elected not to delve into for a host of reasons. However, Michael Dell and other senior officers of Dell Computer decided to move forward and branch the company into a wide variety of other products and systems. Indeed, quick glance at any recent Dell Computer catalogue demonstrates how far a field Dell has gone and grown in the past couple of years.
These expansions have brought Dell into head to head competition with a growing number of other computer and hi-tech companies. Dell Computer gradually is moving to position itself as a formidable competitor in marketing new printers and other computer system peripherals. Indeed, Dell Computer is even making plans to more broadly market such hi-tech gear as digital cameras and the like.
Dell Computer CEO Michael Dell determined that in order to remain a significant presence in the market, Dell necessarily needed to branch beyond its traditional product base. And, at this juncture, Dell Computer has ruled nothing out of that equation.
