Beware of Computer Viruses
Recently, the United States Department of Homeland Security, the governmental agency in the United States created after the terrorist attack in New York on September 11th, announced its concern regarding an increased threat to the Internet. The announcement in the United States was echoed by similar agencies in other parts of the world.
One of the major concerns of security agencies around the world is the possibility that some serious and devastating computer viruses will be unleashed upon the Internet, the World Wide Web and the world by terrorists. Indeed, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security went so far as to advise people to stop using Internet Explorer arguing that Internet Explorer was too easy target for terrorists intending to unleash computer viruses into the World Wide Web.
Upon making the announcement, a 1% decline in Internet Explorer usage occurred. Of course, that decline could be attributed to almost anything.
In this day and age, terrorists or not, it still is very advisable for Internet users to take steps to protect against computer viruses. It is vital for a person to make certain that he or she has up to date software on his or her computer to protect against computer viruses.
There are a number of decent programs available to protect against computer viruses. The key isn’t so much obtaining software to protect against computer viruses in the first instance. Rather, the key is to ensure that a person keeps his or her software defense system updated to protect against newly engineered computer viruses. Only by keeping software to protect against computer viruses updated can a person be truly protected against devastating computer viruses.
A person should regularly schedule updates of his or her software designed to protect against computer viruses. Regular scheduled updates will ensure that a computer does not fall victim for computer viruses.
