Shopping: A Trip to the Computer Store
The computer store has become a Mecca for many men and woman (and children too) who are interested in high-tech equipment.
At the dawn of the personal computer age, personal computer units did not yet have their own home in a place like a computer store. Today, it is nearly impossible to pass through a commercial area in any given community without spotting a computer store.
There are a number of large computer store chains with exciting showrooms. These lively venues feature staff members that seem more like the wait staff of the local novelty restaurant than the staid customer service reps of days gone by. One almost expects to find the large computer store staff members to have decorated themselves with the flair buttons and badges that are commonplace on the apparel of wait staff in various bistros.
Many people have ended up turned off by the flash, hustle and bustle of the larger chain computer store operations. Fortunately, in nearly every city on the planet in this day and age it has become fairly easy to find a smaller computer store or shop. While these really cannot be called “Mom and Pop” operations because such a term evokes a nostalgic setting that really does not track with the reality of a computer store of any size.
The benefit of shopping at a smaller computer store is the personal attention that one can garner, many times from the owner from his or herself. On the down side, a smaller computer store does not have the extensive selection available that can be found at the larger electronic markets.
In the end, a selection of computer store venues all boils down to a matter of personal taste. As mentioned in this article there are pluses and minuses to larger and smaller venues. Product selection versus more direct personal service are the key distinctions.
