Computer Security - A must
In this day and age, with identity theft running rampant, it is vital that any person who uses a computer to manage his or her financial affairs maintain a strict sense of computer security. Computer security particularly is important if a person spends any amount of time on the Internet and the World Wide Web.
One basic step to ensuring solid computer security is adopting the practice of regularly changing passwords. It is amazing how some computer hackers and others are able to get their greedy hands on a password if a given password is kept in use for any significant period of time.
Some experts recommend changing computer passwords every couple of weeks. Of course, very few people undertake password changes with such frequency. In point of fact, many people never change their passwords ever.
Of course, do not share your password with anyone. And, avoid recording your password down on a piece of paper.
Many people duplicate their passwords, which can also cause problems in regard to maintaining computer security. Every time a person is obliged to create a password, he or she should create a password unique for that given setting or situation. By creating separate passwords, a person works to eliminate the possibility that a hacker on some site you visit and need a password to access will be able to access more important portals in your electronic life.
Another solid plan to ensure solid computer security and integrity is to use one computer for Internet visits and keep another business secure and unconnected to the World Wide Web.
Of course, many people do not have it within their budget to obtain and own two separate computers. But, such a set up is ideal. (Having two computers not only helps ensure computer security but it works to ensure that the computer on which you store personal information will not be infected by a virus caught by surfing the Internet.)
