The wireless assess point - or better “the wireless access point” is becoming one of the major elements in the high-tech world that is likely to have a major impact in the future. Many people contend that the wireless access point may be the biggest development since the inception of the Internet and World Wide Web.
Wireless points are installed in a lot of public places already. It is pretty easy these days sitting with your laptop at your favorite coffee shop in Australia ordering some flowers via the Internet for someone in London.
Or how about ordering some tickets for your next sports game from your favorite lounge in the house? It’s all possible with wireless access points.
There are a lot of different models and types of wireless points available on the net today. Wheter you go for a fast 208.11g wireless network access point; reaching theoretical speeds up to 108Mbps using Super-G, or the slower (and older) 802.11b which has a maximum theoretical speed of 11Mbps.
Your reception will also depend on how many walls you have in between the wireless card and the wireless access point, how much signal interference there is and if you have an external antenna attached etc. etc.
I guess that in the future a lot more devices will be wireless - everything from fridges to watches, from televisions to security camera’s.
